Our second stop in Taiwan, at the port of Hualien.
Some interesting "art" at one of our stops.
The highlight for our tour is Taroko National Park and the Taroko Gorge.
The gate to the gorge.
The gorge is 3,300 feet deep in places and is 12 miles long. Unfortunately our bus wasn’t able to travel the entire length. But what we saw was beautiful…high cliff (with the road clinging to the sides), waterfalls, lush forests and rushing mountain rivers below. A pretty impressive sight. The mountains making up the gorge made primarily of marble.
One stop in the gorge was at the Buluowan Hanging Bridge that spanned the gorge.
There were good views from the bridge.
At the visitor’s center we found this Solitary Bee Hotel. Nice of them to support the local bees.
We also stopped at gate to the Changchun Shrine, also called the Eternal Spring Shrine. A short walk. It overlooked the valley and had a waterfall gushing out from under the buildings.

More Hualien Taiwan

From there it was back to Hualien and the ship. It was rainy and damp so it was good to get back to the dry ship.
