Mar 7 – Borocay, Philippines Great Snorkeling

This morning, we are anchored in a bay at Borocay.  Borocay is one of the most popular islands in the Philippines, and for good reason.  Beautiful tropical paradise with lots and lots of palm trees, white sand beaches and crystal clear waters.  Great views from the ship as we anchored.

We board the tenders for the dock where we are greeted by an enthusiastic group of dancers and musicians.

From there we boarded a longboat for a cruise out into the bay for our snorkeling tour.  We have two stops and then the beach.  The first stop had some of the clearest waters we have ever snorkeled.  Clear, clear water, nice coral and lots of fish…

including small neon blue fish (hard to see as they are very small).

The second site had a lot more boats and therefore a lot more snorkelers.  The large number of people probably stirred up the silt as this location wasn’t nearly as clear.

From there we headed over to a lovely, white sand beach with a number of boats pulled up and a fair number of people enjoying the beach…although many were huddling in the narrow strip of shade on the inland side of the beach.

There were plenty of vendors pushing water, ice cream bars, hats and sunglasses.

After enjoying some time on the beach, it was time to head back.  The beaches were lined with hotels and their beach umbrellas.

And there were a lot of pleasure boats all along the coastline.

We had some nice views of the Symphony.

And we had another group serenading us as we headed back to the ship.  A good day.
